Don’t Give Up: A Letter To All Those In A Season Of Hard
My Friend,
I know how it feels. I know how it feels to unexpectedly lose your job. That terrified feeling of what to do next. I know how it feels to feel like you are in an endless job search. Wanting desperately to get out of your current situation but being overlooked time and time again for jobs that you know in your gut you would be great for. I know the fear around not having enough money and praying that something will change. My friend, I know what it is like to be in the season of hard. How deflating it is, how exhausting it is. But what keeps me going, trying to claw my way to my goal? Three little words…. Don’t Give Up.
Don’t Give Up can look different depending on what your situation is.
Settling
Giving up can also be settling. This might be taking a job that is well below your skill level and your desired pay level just because you are tired of looking. This might look like taking a pay cut below what you need and hoping they give you a raise before you drain your savings account. Settling can feel like the only option when you're weary from the struggle. But remember, settling can lead to a cycle of dissatisfaction and regret. Your skills, experience, and worth are valid, and you deserve a role that recognizes that. Hold onto your standards and keep striving for a position that respects your value.
Perseverance
Don’t Give Up also means persevering, even when the road is rough. It means continuing to apply for jobs, to network, and to improve your skills. It means waking up each day and putting in the effort, even when it feels like you're not making any progress. Every application, every interview, every step forward is a victory, no matter how small it may seem. Perseverance is the key to pushing through this difficult season and eventually reaching the other side.
Self-Care
During this challenging time, don’t forget to take care of yourself. The job search can be all-consuming and mentally draining, but your well-being is paramount. Make time for activities that rejuvenate you, whether that's a walk in the park, reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones. Self-care is not a luxury; it's a necessity. It keeps you grounded and helps maintain your resilience.
Support System
Lean on your support system. Talk to friends, family, or a mentor about what you're going through. Sometimes, just sharing your struggles can lighten the load. They can offer advice, encouragement, and perhaps even connections that might lead to new opportunities. Remember, you don’t have to go through this alone. There are people who care about you and want to see you succeed.
Hope and Vision
Finally, hold onto hope and keep your vision clear. Remember why you started this journey and what you're aiming for. Visualize your success and let that vision drive you forward. Even when it feels like you're stuck in a never-ending cycle, keep the faith that things will improve. Your perseverance, resilience, and hard work will pay off.
In the darkest moments, it’s easy to feel like giving up. But my friend, I urge you to keep going. Your breakthrough might be just around the corner. Don’t give up. You are stronger than you know, and this season of hard will pass.
With heartfelt encouragement,
Dianna 💌
